LEARN HOW TO COOK THAI STYLE COCA-COLA CHICKEN

Thai Style Coca - Cola Chicken - Gai Dtohm Coke  (ไก่ต้มโค้ก)

It is time again for another superb recipe! Today, I want to cook something different and extraordinary and it is called Thai style coca-cola chicken - Chicken Braised in Coca-Cola. (You could try with rib-pork or chicken feet as well.) Yes! You hear me right, Coca-cola is no doubt a soft drink but it can be used in cooking too.

This home cook Thai Style Coca-Cola chicken has no secret at all. It only uses simple condiments and ingredients that are commonly found in most households and apply basic method to cook. The result is surprisingly tasty and finger-licking good!

For this menu I use simple ingredients (as being highlighted below) and add in Coca-Cola as the base of the simmering liquid, which not only tenderizes but caramelizes the chicken, which eventually gives out a hint of sweetness and saltiness with nice sticky syrup glaze. The result is.....mmm! No words I can describe how amazing and delicious this simple home cook menu can be. But I challenge you to try it! I bet you can be seriously addicted to it!

This wonderful and fantastic Asian recipe is not only tasty but it is so simply easy to prepare. Now you can easily whip up some simple and decent meals for your family by following the recipes highlighted as follows :

5 Pieces Of Chicken Drumstick
1/2 Bottle Of 1.5 Liter Coca Cola

Fresh Coriander
2 Fresh Properly Wash Coriander Root
1 Tablespoon Of  Black Pepper Seed
6 Cloves Garlic

1 Whole Piece Fresh Carrot

1 Tablespoon Of Oyster Sauce
1 1/2 Tablespoon Of Seasoning Sauce

Simple Step By Step Guide To Cook Thai Style Coca-Cola Chicken As Follows :

Step 1
Clean Chicken Drumsticks Under Running Water And Discard Any Excess Fats. Using A Sharp Knife, Make 2-3 Slashes About 1/2 Till 1 Inch Apart Into The Thickest Part Of Each  Drumstick On Both Sides So That The Sauce And Flavor Is So Much Easier To Penetrate The Meat When Cooking, Making It More Tasty. Pat Dry With Paper Towel And Set Aside.

Step 2
Prepare And Place All Your Ingredients ( Black Pepper Seeds, Garlic And Coriander Roots ) In A Mortar. I Use A Mortar And Pestle For The Harder To Crush Ingredients. First, Pound Black Pepper Seed, Follow By Garlic And Coriander Roots. Give All The Ingredients Above A Good Pounding Till It Forms A Well-Blended Paste.

Step 3
Adding A Garnish to A Dish Is An Art Of Food Presentation Or As A Decorative Flair. I Personally Love Whole Fresh Bright Orange Color Carrots To Create A Flower-Inspired Garnish. Further, Carrots Also Provide Nutrients, Making Them A Healthy Garnish. However, You Also Can Add Some Other Vegetables Of Your Own Choice Such As Cucumbers, Red Bell Peppers, Potatoes, Tomatoes, Green Salads Are Just A Few Of The Versatile Vegetables To Create Your Own Favorite Garnishes.

For The Purpose Of This Menu I Will Share Some Basic Tips And Instructions On How To Carve A 4 Petal-Flower As An Inspired Garnish From A Carrot. For Your Information, You Do Not Need Any Special Tools and You Do Not Require Experience With Carrot Carvings. All You Need Is Perfect Practice, Will Eventually Make The Carrot Into Perfect Shape!

I Will Be Using A Manual Method Of Carving Since It's More Flexible And It Works For All Sizes Of Carrots.

First, Peel The Carrot And Clean Properly. Place The Carrot On The Cutting Board. Use A Sharp Knife To Cut Off And Discard The Tops And Ends. Then Cut The Carrot Into 4 Short Pieces As Shown Above For Easier Carving.

Step 4
To Create A 4 Petal Flowers Design, You Have To Use A Sharp Knife To Mark And Carve Your First Slit Horizontal Line Down. Then Repeat With A Second Horizontal Line Approximately 3-4 Millimeter Apart Forming As If A "V" Shape Design. Rinse And Repeat This Method Until You Get 4 "V" Shape Slits

Use The Tip Of Your Knife To Hollow Or Lift Out The Wedge ( Between The 2 Horizontal Lines Of The Carrot ) To Form A Petal. Rinse And Repeat With The Others Until You See The Flower Shape.

Step 5
Finally, Finely Slice The Carrot Will Give You A Beautiful 4 Petal Flowers Design.
Set Aside To Garnish With Thai Style Coca-Cola Chicken.

Step 6
Place The Chicken Drumsticks In A Heavy Based Pot. Then Add On The Pounded Paste On Top Of The Chicken Drumsticks.

Step 7
Season With Oyster Sauce And Seasoning Sauce ( You Can Use Soy Sauce In Case If Seasoning Sauce Not Available ).

Step 8
Pour Coca-Cola Over The Chicken Until It Covers The Entire Chicken Drumsticks. Use A Ladle To Stir The Sauce To Mix Well. Heat The Pot Over High Heat To Bring The Liquid To A Simmer Uncovered For At Least 10 Minutes.

Step 9
Once The Liquid Starts To Boil, Lower The Heat And Let The Chicken Drumsticks Simmer In The Liquid For About 30 Minutes. While You Are Cooking In This Step, Remember To Taste And Adjust Flavorings To Personal Taste. Do Not Add Too Much Salt As Soy Sauce Provides Enough Saltiness To This Dish. Remember To Occasionally Turning Over Chicken Drumsticks To Avoid Burnt.

Step 10
As You Can See In This Step The Liquid Is Reduced To A Thick-Sticky Syrup Consistency And The Chicken Drumsticks Already Soften.

Step 11
Remove From Heat. Transfer Thai Style Coca-Cola Chicken To A Serving Plate, Garnish With Coriander Leaves And Carved Carrots And Serve.

Now, Here You Go My "Thai Style Coca-Cola Chicken" Taste Wow And Yes The Taste Just As Good As The Way They Look.

Foot Note :
Always Do A "TASTE-TASTING" In Step 9.  If Too Salty Or Sweet Add Some Water. Add Some Seasoning Sauce If Not Salty Enough.
